Before Jesus’ birth, the devil waged a relentless campaign to thwart God’s plan for humanity’s redemption, knowing that the coming of the Messiah would mark his ultimate defeat. From the Garden of Eden, where he deceived Adam and Eve, to corrupting nations and attempting to destroy the lineage of the promised Saviour, the devil’s efforts were futile against God’s unwavering plan.
When Jesus was born, the devil’s desperation peaked, leading him to influence King Herod to massacre innocent children in Bethlehem, only for God to protect Jesus by guiding His family to Egypt. Throughout Jesus’ life, the devil continued his opposition, tempting Jesus in the wilderness and working through religious leaders to plot His death. But each of these attempts only served to fulfil the divine plan.
The devil’s apparent victory at the crucifixion turned into his greatest defeat when Jesus’ death and resurrection broke the power of sin, death, and darkness. The message of Jesus’ resurrection spread, leading people from many backgrounds to recognise His authority and the triumph of God’s plan.
The devil, having failed at every turn, could only watch as Jesus’ love and truth transcended boundaries, uniting people worldwide in the light of Christ and sealing the victory of God’s plan over darkness.
